SERVICE DESCRIPTION

This work can be beneficial to clients who may have felt a particular way for as long as they can remember, whose symptoms may have come on suddenly with no explicable cause, or who have symptoms that have been so much a part of their lives they may have never questioned if they were actually theirs in the first place. New developments in epigenetics proves that the effects of trauma can pass generationally down to each of us individually as inherited family trauma via our DNA.  98% of our non-coding DNA is responsible for many of the emotional, behavioral, and personality traits we inherit, and it is known to be affected by environmental stressors including stressful emotions.[i] These epigenetic changes biologically prepare us to cope with the traumas that our parents, grandparents and great greats beyond experienced as a kind of family insurance policy. However, much like survival skills obtained in one’s own lifetime in response to difficult life experiences and trauma that have outlived their usefulness, these ancestral responses can also be detrimental. This survival insurance policy has very much outlived its effectiveness, (by several generations), but many of us are still paying high fees to maintain it! Our ancestors’ survival skills, which are born with us as a specific set of tools intended to help us survive, can haunt us. They are activated / awakened when similar triggers occur and when the ‘right’ circumstances are presented. Because pain does not always dissolve on its own or diminish with time; fears, feelings, and behavior can become unknowingly adopted that keep a cycle of suffering alive from generation to generation. Ancestral work is a creative and analytical process that utilizes several techniques including those described in the services section to work with the trauma that clients carry but which is not the result of their own experiences. Such practices could be: creating genograms to track family patterns, witnessing and reframing ancestral traumas, paying homage and creative communion with the ancestors through story, art, music or movement; making new positive family rituals for honouring the ancestors, and more. Exploration, witnessing and ritual allow clients to reframe their ‘ancestral inheritance’ as wisdom, guidance and ultimately as honoured strengths. [1] Mark Wolynn. CANCELLATION POLICY

Circumstances can be beyond our control! We honour that life happens! We understand situations arise when you may need to make changes prior to your scheduled booking, and advance notice, when possible, helps us immensely. We try to be as flexible as possible in accommodating our clients’ schedule changes. However, as we set limits on the number of clients seen at any given time, and as appointments and courses are booked on a first-come first-served basis, late schedule changes can result in inconvenience for all parties, and prevent the scheduling of other clients during that timeslot. Also, because our goal is to provide quality individualized care in a timely manner, the care and preparation we’ve taken in preparing for your session could have been prevented from being needlessly spent. Rebooking: We can facilitate changes up to 48 hours in advance of your booked appointment. You may reschedule for a future session with that session already paid in full for up to three months after your original booking date - no problem. Cancellations Without Rebooking: Those made within 72 hours of your scheduled booking will receive a full refund. * Those made within 48 hours of your scheduled booking will receive a 50% refund. * Those made within 24 hours of scheduled appointment will receive no refund. *Less any processing fees that may be charged from our provider for reversing payment. Lateness: We want you to you to receive the full benefits of your session, so please arrive on time. At our discretion, we will decide if there is adequate time left in your appointment to complete it without affecting quality of service. Typically, a lateness of 25 minutes or more is detrimental to any session and unfortunately will be determined as a same-day cancellation and will receive no refund.
